Tip: All the Gum paste requires a hand kneading before final modelling. As UK is a cold country where temperature varies quite variably during the day, there might be a possibility that the Gum paste is not soft enough to knead. In this situation please keep the Gum paste at a temperature between 23 - 26 'C before starting the kneading.

The quickest way to soften the Gum paste is to:

Microwave the fondant for 5 second or
Steam the unopened packet above the boiling water pot | Steaming is best way as it keeps the fondant warm for a longer time and retain its moisture.
Dip the unopened packet in the boiling for few seconds | Dipping is also another best way as it keeps the Gum pastewarm for a longer time and retain its moisture.
If it feels sticky while kneading please use a dash of cornflour.
Tip: To make it dry faster and harder you can add CMC or Tylose or Gum Tragacanth powder to the gum paste and knead it before start modelling it.
Also as humidity and temperature plays a crucial parts in dry times please be advise you can also use fan at a suitable speed and direct the blowing air breeze towards the model to help them dry faster.
